Open House for Educators at CBMM in St. Michaels, MD

September 24, 2016 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels, MD, is welcoming local educators to two open house events this fall, one on Saturday, September 24, and the other on Wednesday, October 5. The events are free, with advanced registration needed.

The open houses will share the many different resources and opportunities for K-12 students and teachers at CBMM. Educators can explore the campus along with the curricular connections—from STEM and science to social studies and financial literacy—in CBMM’s educational programming.

On Saturday, September 24, educators are encouraged to explore CBMM’s 18-acre waterfront campus, exhibitions, and school program opportunities. Check-in and hands-on activities will be available from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Free admission for the educator’s family is included with pre-registration.

Registration can be completed online at http://bit.ly/CBMMOpenHouse16. All pre-registered educators must provide credentials such as certification or school/employer ID at check-in to receive complimentary admission. Please refer to registration confirmation for more details about the specific event. Questions can be directed to CBMM’s School and Family Programs Manager Jill Ferris at 410-745-4986 or jferris@cbmm.org.

Donations to CBMM’s Annual Fund support the programs highlighted in the educator open houses, along with the museum’s other education, restoration, and exhibition programs.

Established in 1965, the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum is a world-class maritime museum dedicated to preserving and exploring the history, environment, and people of the entire Chesapeake Bay, with the values of relevancy, authenticity, and stewardship guiding its mission. Serving nearly 70,000 guests each year, CBMM’s campus includes a floating fleet of historic boats and 12 exhibition buildings, situated in a park-like, waterfront setting along the Miles River and St. Michaels’ harbor.
