Geography Education for All in Maryland and Beyond

The Maryland Geographic Alliance is a dynamic network of geographers, K-12 educators, and teacher educators working together to promote geography education across Maryland. Headquartered at Towson University, we champion geographic literacy for inquiry learning, and we embrace geography as a key to civic engagement and global understanding in the 21st century.

Since 1989, more than 14,000 educators have participated in our programs that emphasize geography content and incorporate hands-on activities. Workshops, summer institutes, and webinars provide support for elementary, middle, and high school teachers. Recent professional development focuses on the teaching of world cultures, AP Human Geography, and geospatial technologies. Each year MGA oversees “Mapping Maryland,” an ESRI-sponsored student map competition for students in grades 4-8 and grades 9-12.

MGA is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization registered in Maryland, and we welcome individual and corporate support of our initiatives in geography education. All donations are fully tax-deductible. To donate today, contact Todd Kenreich at tkenreich(at)towson.edu.
